Job Description
The position involves (1) working from a quiet location of your choosing (can be a home or office), (2) receiving repair inquiries from homeowners via video chat, (3) helping to diagnose common residential problems, virtually, as accurately as possible, and (4) advising/collaborating with the operations team on repair industry best practices to inform overall product strategy. This position requires a part-time (20 hour/week) commitment that includes nontraditional working shifts in the early morning and evening hours as well as weekends. It's possible to maintain your current employment and take these virtual diagnosis calls at your convenience (ex. before or after your current work hours).
Responsibilities
• Log in to the diagnostic portal on the days/times that you select to be available to take calls
• Take calls in a quiet, professional environment free from distractions
• Interact with homeowners over video chat in real time, having them be your hands, feet, ears and eyes in their home as you guide them on the steps to take to narrow down and diagnose the source of the issue
• Provide extraordinary care to homeowners with excellent customer service
• Provide recommendations for repair vs replace options as needed
• Enter the results of each video call into the diagnostic portal along with the compatible parts and/or tools needed for each repair
• Provide guidance and consultation around strategy and operations approaches in the home repair industry (including product strategy, pricing, and step-by-step instruction for completing repairs)
• Participate in meetings and ongoing trainings with the larger home repair team
Qualifications
• 15+ years of residential plumbing & HVAC hands-on experience
• Possesses a Journeyman’s license in PHVAC, at minimum (preferably master’s status) with no complaints filed against their license
• Able to pass a background check
• Has strong computer skills
• Natural desire to help and empower homeowners
• Talented with describing plumbing steps in layman’s terms and patiently providing instruction
• Keen ability to recognize the DIY skill level of each homeowner you work with
• Friendly and personable; excellent people skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Comfortable with using a laptop and digital platforms
• Professional home or office environment free from distractions
• Strong, dependable wi-fi connection where calls will be taken
• Willing to take part in continuing education as needed/required
• Regularly and consistently demonstrates the Nationwide Values and Guiding Behaviors
• Must not work as a remote/virtual technician for any other company (doing physical diagnoses and repairs is allowed)
Preferred Qualifications
• Possesses an unrestricted state master’s license in PHVAC
• Licensed in gas fitting, mechanical, and universal refrigerant
• Has a strong social media presence
• Is a member of a trade association Flexible scheduling
